Shug and Rylan are still talking about stoves. Shug has a friend who sent him a box of camping stoves to use in his videos. Alcohol and wood stoves are the topic as they discuss the Mini Bull and the Bush buddy. The warmth, crackle and ambiance of a fire on a camping trip is always welcome as Shug discusses his "woods Chi". Sometimes he'll make a campfire but it's always very small to limit his impact on the forest. Even just the glow from a wood burning stove meets those needs. And here is where we start getting to know that goofy guy behind those videos much better!

Shug tells us about a principle that's guided him for most of his adult life, ACT. Action, Commitment and Technique. He also talks about and recommends a book called "Lost in the Woods". This coming during his and Rylan's stories about getting lost themselves. Shug gives us a look into his camping philosophy and what he is out there doing.

Tarp talk, quilts and hammock camping is a large part of this episode as well. We hear about where they've been, what they are doing and where they are going with some of their gear. Also there are some little tips and solutions to some of the tarp and hammock problems Shug has encountered while he's been Tweakin' Gear!

Enjoy The Trail!

Hey, I really like Shug's version of the podcast intro. I think that should be the new intro... even though there still is no mention of women in scouting. Wink

I have used the bush buddy and it is a good stove. I had a hard time using it in the rain for 3 days. I had to get innovative in finding fuel for it. I even used an esbit when it was hard to find some. The only problem I have had using it is the accumulation of soot on the bottom of my kettle. I also hear they have a titanium version.
Loved it!
