Mt. Pilchuck Snow Scramble PDF Print E-mail

OK, hang on for a little photo tour of Travis and me climbing up to the Pilchuck lookout tower:

It was about 3 miles to the top.

Right off the bat we wondered is it gonna be 3 miles of ICE?

Well, the ice continued, with a few other obstacles, but eventually it became... Ice and rocks

Finally we busted out into the true snow and the going was actually much better.

Kicking steps up to the ridge.

Icicles along the trail.

Did I mention what a magnificent day it was? The blue sky, white snow and bright sunshine made for a magical day.

This place is called the Knife Edge (at least that’s what I call it). In the summer you stand 6 feet lower.

I liked this stack of loose rocks

That's it for now. Too bad you missed this one. It was fantastic. Kat

As Southern boys we don't get to experience scenery like this very often. Thanks for passing it along. Do you want to explain the shot of that squirrel? And how cold was it anyway?

Living in south Texas I have to travel a long way to see anything like that. Looks like you had a great day. Keep the pictures coming.

I hate the cold but I think I could bare it for those views. Where is Mt. Pilchuck ?
